GWERSYLLT PARK will be playing in the second tier next season after victory over Buckley secured promotion from Division Two.

The Wrexham-based had won 11 of their 13 matches heading to Flintshire on Monday, Lee Beer's men wrapping up win number 12 by 70 runs.

Beer produced a captain's knock as he hit 78, which included nine fours and two sixes, as Gwersyllt posted 216, Dominic Mitchell, Jake James and James Collier all contributing with 23.

Joseph Norman (35) and Joel Sampson (33) got Buckley's reply off to a promising start, but Graeme Bell (4-30) and Ethan McCarthy (3-27) combined to bowl the home side out for 146.

Corwen and Ruthin both claimed walkover wins as Llangollen and Halkyn conceded their respective matches.

Hawarden Park moved a step closer to joining Gwersyllt in Division One after they were beaten by eight wickets at Gresford in the top-flight.

A heavily depleted Hawarden, who now need to win all three of their remaining matches to stand any chance of escaping the drop, posted 139 having been invited to bat first, Campbell Marr hitting a half century as Chris Ellwood bagged 5-23.

Matthew Cree then struck an unbeaten 77 as Gwersyllt cruised to 142 for two inside 23 overs, Ahmed Javed picking up both wickets to fall.

Northop held their nerve to secured a one-wicket win at Denbigh, who saw captain Harrison Jones hit 125 not out in their 213 for seven, Bart Beswick taking 4-50.

Jordan Evans (57) and Gareth Williams (46) laid a foundation in Northop's run chase, but the Flintshire side needed Andy Poynton's 33 not out and 28 from number 10 James Birch to see them home off the final ball of the match.

Wes Gillam impressed with bat and ball as Mold defeated Dolgellau by 43 runs in Division One.

Gillam hit 47 in Mold's 206 for six, Tom North (62) and Duane Williams (33) also in the runs, before the all-rounder claimed 4-36 to restrict Dolgellau to 163 for eight in reply.

Llay Welfare were also winners as they dented Bethesda' promotion bid by securing a nine-run home triumph.

Dave Phennah (35) and Tom Parry (27) helped Llay to 133, which surprisingly proved just enough as Jack Aplin took 3-17 and Jack and Tom Parry and Tom Crewe took two wickets apiece to bowl Bethesda out for 124.

In the Second XI Premier Division, Alex Morton took 4-15 and Ross Willets claimed 3-29 before David Baker hit 45 not out as leaders Gresford Seconds (92-1) beat Mochdre Seconds (90) by nine wickets.

James Roberts scored an unbeaten 106 as Northop Seconds (271-6) cruised to a 136-run win at Hawarden Park Seconds (135-6), while Llay Welfare Seconds (173-7) beat Carmel and District Seconds (172) by three wickets and Brymbo Seconds (166-4) defeated Denbigh Seconds (163-7) by six wickets.

In the Second XI East Division, Tom Robinson's 90 and 74 not out from Shaun Gibson was not enough to prevent Halkyn Seconds (228-5) losing by five wickets at Gwersyllt Park Seconds (229-5).
