THE Roberts brothers - Ross and Nigel - turned back the clock to inspire Brymbo to victory in the Second XI Premier Division.

Batting together in the Brymbo middle-order, Ross hit 47 and former Welsh international, Nigel, added 45 in their 177 all out at Tanyfron, Simon Nicholls taking 4-31.

Adam Smith also played his part with 32 and took 4-48 as visitors Buckley’s innings ended on 144 for eight.

Andy Massey top scored with 35 but it was man of the match, Ross Roberts, who landed 4-17 from 10 overs.

While the Roberts were winning it for Brymbo, the Hintons were doing just as well for Hawarden Park, who picked up their first victory of the season against Carmel.

Fourth-placed Carmel put 196 for four on the scoreboard with Emyr Davies hitting 66 and Luke Bodman 39.

The Hinton brothers took over from then on, Mark hitting 80 and Peter 70 as Park responded with 200 for five, Dafydd Timothy landing 5-17 for Carmel.

Pontblyddyn were bowled out for 88 and lost by 10 wickets to Bangor while Gresford remain top after a comfortable seven wicket success against Mochdre, who were dismissed for 116.

Ross Willets starred for Gresford taking 4-23 and then top scoring with 45 in Gresford’s 120 for three.

Alec Morton (3-32) and 31 from Rory Benson also helped Gresford stay ahead of the chasing pack.

Llay Welfare (113-7) were thrashed by eight wickets by Menai Bridge (102 for two) while in Division Two, Gwersyllt Park lost again as they were beaten by three wickets at Carmel.

Scott Watkins did his best for Park, smashing 74 in their 173 all out. Jake James added 31 as Jack Whitehouse, Derek Johnson and Barry McGauty all took two wickets apiece.

Carmel’s Henry Davies hit 60 in replay as Carmel reached 174 for seven, Jack Watkins claiming 4-25.

Llangollen, who have cried off six times this season, did manage to get a team out against Buckley but the match was complete after 20 overs.

Llangollen were skittled out for just 25, Louis Parry (4-11) and Sam Edwards (3-1). Buckley needed only five overs to get to to 26 for one.

Ruthin were impressive nine-wicket winners against Marchwiel/Wrexham for whom Sam Shoemark hit 52 in their 140 for nine.

Sion Hughes took 3-33 for Ruthin, who eased to 142 for one, Michael Parton ending up unbeaten on 50.

Halkyn couldn’t raise a team for their clash at Mynydd Isa but their Seconds put a side out against Connah’s Quay - and won in their Division Two East encounter.

The Quay posted 131 for nine and Halkyn made it to 132 for six.

Gwersyllt Park are top after beating Ruthin by five wickets.

Stephen Conner followed up his two wickets in Ruthin’s 112 for nine with 67 in the home side’s 113 for five.

Mold beat Maeshafn/Argoed by three wickets.

Stuart Applewhite (72) top scored in Maeshafn’s 186 for eight as Keith Embleton landed 3-38.

Craig Roberts (54) and George Jones (46) led Mold home to 198 for seven despite the efforts of Jonathan Fagan, who took 4-42.

All Sunday’s third XI fixtures were washed out by the rain.
