BRYMBO suffered Welsh Cup quarter-final heartbreak as they were beaten by six runs by Ynysygerwn.

With home advantage, captain James Claybrook won the toss and invited visiting Ynysygerwn to bat first.

Gareth Davies struck 69 at the top of the order, while Yuvraj Odedra anchored the 40 overs with an unbeaten 98 from 86 balls, which included seven fours and four sixes.

Gareth Boyes (2-30) and Dan Parry (2-44) were the pick of the Brymbo attack as Ynysygerwn were restricted to 220 for six.

Brymbo lost both openers - Greg King and Mohamed Nilam Jayman - cheaply after the turnaround, but Joss Roberts (30) and Claybrook (24) rebuilt the innings.

David Blackwell (24) and Boyes (21) picked up where their team mates left off, before Parry (37 not out) and Matthew Turner (31no) took Brymbo to within touching distance of victory.

Unfortunately for the Wrexham-based side they were unable to get themselves across the line, finishing on 214 for seven, Joshua Griffiths' 2-17 from eight overs having a major say in the outcome.
