SHAUN PEARSON wants to reward the hundreds of travelling Wrexham supporters with a victory in tonight's friendly against Louletano Desportes Club.

Wrexham have travelled to Portugal for a pre-season tour and, for the second year in a row, Reds fans have travelled to the Algarve in their hoards.

The players, based in Vilamoura, are continuing the build-up to the club's 11th campaign in non-league with a friendly against Louletano tomorrow.

Supporters saw an open training session last night and with a good following set to attend the clash with Portuguese third tier side Louletano at the 30,305 seat capacity Estádio, Reds skipper Pearson is eager to win the game.

"It should be a great experience," said Pearson, "A nice big stadium, we don't get to play in front of stadiums like that too often so I will look forward to that.

"I am sure all the lads will be and hopefully we can get a result to reward the fans, and they can enjoy it while they are out here.

"It was a success last year so hopefully it can be again this year.

"It was good last year, the first time I have ever done anything like this. I was very impressed with it.

"I really enjoyed it and it is a good opportunity for the new lads to get to know everybody.

"When you stay away like this you get to know people on a more personal level so it definitely helps in that respect."

Pearson applauded the supporters for making the trip to Portugal to follow their team and says the players appreciate the backing which helps develop a bond between both parties.

"Good numbers come out which is brilliant," said Pearson.

"It is a good chance for them to interact with the players and likewise the players back with the supporters, and that helps to create that bond.

"I thought that was really good between players and fans last year and it is something we want to recreate this year and hopefully make it stronger.

"That can only help us."

Pearson, who joined Wrexham last summer from Grimsby, has moved to the Wrexham area and has proved to be a brilliant ambassador for the club, even refereeing a local youth match.

"If you live local obviously it is a bit easier but if the players can get out and give that little bit back, it can only help," said Pearson.

"Help create that community type spirit and that can only benefit you.

"If you have got players and fans on the same wavelength then that is surely a good thing rather than the opposite way around.

"I enjoy doing it. I think it is a big part of the job we have got, it comes with a little bit of responsibility and I don't thing there is anything wrong with going out there and giving a little bit back."

Wrexham arrived in Portugal on Monday evening after training earlier in the day in Manchester.

The players trained twice yesterday but Pearson admits the last session in Britain before flying out took a few of the players by surprise.

"It was quite a long day," added Pearson.

"We trained at Dayton Football Club in the morning and it was a tough session. I think it took a few of the lads by surprise!

"I think a few expected a loosener but it was a really tough session, probably the toughest we have had, but you have got to get them sessions done.

"Then we travelled out to Portugal so it was a long day.

"We got here quite late, had a good night's sleep, and had two training sessions yesterday."
