TARPORLEY took control of Division One of the Chester and District Midweek League with a 10-wicket win over title rivals Mold.

After restricting Mold to 89 for six from their 20 overs, Tarporley eased to 90 without loss to move a point clear at the top with a game in hand on all of the chasing pack.

Red Lion moved level on points with second placed Mold courtesy of a 14-run win over Hawarden Park, who were restricted to 103 for six in reply to the visitors’ 117 for eight. Mike Todt struck 52 and Darren Wilcox claimed 3-13 for the victors.

Also victorious were Academicals (154-5) as they overcame visiting Kingsley Knights (153-6) by five wickets.

Division Two leaders Brymbo Brewers held their nerve to beat Golden Eagle by six runs and make it nine successive victories.

Joss Roberts and David Blackwell hit half centuries in Brymbo’s 170 for four, before the Eagles’ reply was halted on 164 for two, Dan Haynes (50) and Paul Hickey (50) taking their side close.

John Cadwallader hit 51 as West Cheshire Crossbatters (148-3) overcame Cornerhouse (145-2) by seven wickets, Andy Bennion’s half century in vain for the losing side.

Mynydd Isa (125-8) beat HGWCC (124-4) by two wickets and Saughall (119-7) got the better of Chester Lions (109-4) by 10 runs in the second-tier’s other matches.

Gwersyllt Park’s pursuit of the Division Three title was given a helping hand as Manor Athletic failed to raise a side.

Gwersyllt won by six runs at West Cheshire College. The Wrexham-based side hit 129 for five before restricting West Cheshire to 123 for four in reply.

West Kirby Wasps (81) dropped to third after losing by 72 runs to Halkyn (153-7), while The Groves failed to raise a side for their encounter with Cross Keys.

Oakmere claimed outright control of Division Four as they beat Saightonians and title rivals Abergele lost at Castle Square Cutters.

After scoring 179 for five, Oakmere bowled Saightonians out for 99 to claim an 80-run win, while Abergele (128-5) lost by eight wickets at Castle Square Cutters (132-2).

Outlaws (121-0) secured a 10-wicket win over Bromborough (120-6) remain without a point by wrapping up a 10-wicket triumph.

It’s a case of as you were at the top of Division Five.

Leaders Bank of America were gifted two points as Oak Tree Outlaws conceded, but Wirral (121-4) remain level on points after beating Kinnerton (120-8) by six wickets.

Third placed Shotton (109-4) were six-wicket winners against visiting Frodsham (108-5), while Dodleston (114-1) defeated Westminster Park (109-6) by nine wickets.

Buckley made it 10 from 10 as they cruised to a 161-run success over MP Plumbing in Division Six.

The Flintshire-side struck 268 for five, before restricting the home side to 107 for eight.

Defib (123-1) remain second after beating Chester Taverners (120-4) by nine wickets.
