Life isn’t easy for Premier Division strugglers Chirk and Hawarden Park at present - but both teams remain determined to turn things around.

By the time Chirk had been heavily beaten at Brymbo last week Hawarden Park had already lost to current leaders Menai Bridge with the defeated duo occupying the top-flight’s bottom two.

Chirk captain Andrew Swarbrick, who saw his side bowled out for 91 chasing Brymbo’s 244 for eight, said: “It’s tough to take, they all have been.

“On paper, even now, I still back us to chase any score with a good effort, but we are getting bowled out too cheaply too often at the moment.

“It will come, I’m telling you now, we are just waiting for things to click because we’ve got too much talent in the side to not get things right.”

Chirk make their way to Pwllheli tomorrow, Swarbrick adding: “We believe we can win games and we believe that we are good enough to be in this division.

“It’s up to us to start proving we are good enough and hopefully that starts this weekend.”

Hawarden Park are remaining equally upbeat despite their heavy defeat at the hands of Menai Bridge, who posted 245 for seven before bowling their hosts out for just 89 in reply.

Ian Martin’s men make their way to Flintshire rivals Northop this weekend with the Park skipper hopeful that better results are around the corner.

“There were plenty of positives to take from the Menai game, even if the result doesn’t reflect that,” said Martin. “We were in the game for large parts, but things didn’t go our way.

“If we can build on the positives then I’m sure we can give Northop a good game.”
