Young Deeside AC athletes excelled at the latest UK Youth Development U13/U15 League meeting in Warrington.

The Flintshire club took the team award after a series of solid displays, which yielded an impressive 692-point total.

Wrexham AC's tally of 279 points clinched sixth place at the eight-team event, with Poppy Bostock in impressive form.

Competing in the U13G section, she claimed a hat-trick of wins in the 75m sprint (10.8 seconds), 150m (21.2 seconds) and long jump (4.11 metres).

Harvey Davis triumphed in the U13B javelin with his best effort of 22.26 metres, before third place finishes in the 200m (31.0 seconds) and 800m (2:40.0).

Jacob Parker took first place in the U15B javelin (29.84 metres), while Gareth Price-Lovell's time of 13.0 seconds clinched second in the 100m.

Grace Meredith was third in the U15G shot put (7.21 metres), with clubmate Lowri Jarvis second in the pole vault (2.00 metres) and third in the 75m hurdles (15.0 seconds).

Amy Odunaiya's impressive season continued at the England U20/U23 Championships in Bedford.

The Wrexham AC athlete stormed to a second place finish in the U23 200m race, clocking 24.43 seconds to finish just behind Blackheath sprinter Shannon Hylton (23.51 seconds).

Despite falling short of a podium place, Wrexham runner Matthew Bailey achieved a new PB of 12.80 seconds in the 80m hurdles at the Mason Trophy School Championships in Birmingham.

Wrexham's Ryan Davis took on the Shrewsbury Half Marathon where he ran an impressive 1:19:02 to finish 11th outright, with clubmate Jacqueline Lincoln home in a time of 2:39:36.

Luke Northall was Wrexham's fastest finisher at the Park Hall 5k in Oswestry, where his time of 16:57 earned him second place outright.

Gareth Chaloner (18:50), Richard Westwood (22:25) Philip Walker (26:02), Michael Edwards (29:41), Alyson Winn (34:34), Peter Norman (36:45) Eurona Jones (36:53) and Rachel Nickerson (38:33) were Wrexham's other finishers.

Andrew Jones recorded a time of 38:13 to place 11th at the Port Sunlight 10k, ahead of Wrexham clubmates David Millington (39:23) and Freya Morris (58:32).

Wrexham duo Neil Bull (2:15:27) and Karen Owens (2:34:05) ran strongly at the Coed Y Brenin Trail Half Marathon whole Yricka Gardner clocked 5:34:58 in the full marathon.

Sioned Cordiner won the Rhyl Race for Life 5K, where she along with sister Hafina and mum Ruth raised in excess of £500 for Cancer Research.

Deeside AC junior runner Daniel Parkinson was third fastest at Wepre ParkRun, ahead of clubmate Stephen Jolly (21:49), Buckley Runners man Chris Hunt (25:51) and fellow Deesiders Matthew Harding (26:53), and David Roderick (27:18)

Iwan Morris equalled his PB of 19:54 at the latest Erddig ParkRun, where he placed fifth ahead of fellow Wrexham AC runners Louis Lermite (20:49), Gwyn Roberts (21:39), Taylor Williams (25:22), Charles Ashley (25:33), Debbie Dodd (29:46) and Peter Hughes (29:47).

North Wales athletes will head to Newport this weekend for the two-day Welsh Junior Track and Field Championships.

Closer to home, the Runfest 5k/10k/half marathon events get underway at 10am in Rhyl.
