Striker Jack Higgins believes he can fulfil his footballing ambitions at Flint Town United next term.

Silkmen boss Niall McGuinness has bolstered his attacking options after recruiting Higgins from Cymru Alliance rivals Prestatyn Town.

Now the prolific forward believes his style of play will complement the current set up at Cae-y-Castell and hopes to spearhead a promotion push.

He said: "I signed for Flint, because, after having chats with Niall, Aden and Johnny, I felt that the clubs' ambitions matched my own.

"I’ve watched the team a few times last season and they were a very well organised side who like to get the ball down and play.

"They all work hard for each other and there was a great team ethic. It really fits with my style of play, plus Flint are a big club with very good fans.

"I feel it's important that a club has a good set of fans who will stick with the lads right the way through the season.

I need to work hard in pre season and get my place in the team and then hopefully score lots of goals to help the team push for promotion and get the club where it belongs, in the WPL. I’m looking forward to working under the management staff and with the players, I can’t wait to get started."

Higgins could line up alongside fellow new arrival Luke Blondel in United's new-look attack, with McGuinness excited by his new signing's ability.

"I’ve watched and played with Jack over the years and one thing he has always done is scored goals, at whatever level he’s played at.

"In very limited appearances last season, he finished joint top goalscorer for Prestatyn, with four goals. The season prior to that, in their Cymru Alliance winning team, he signed for them late on in the season, not long after Christmas following his return from America, and went on to score 16 goals in six games, which was a record in itself.

"I'm absolutely delighted that Jack joins us and the coaching staff and myself are looking forward to working with him, and helping him develop further."

Attacking midfielder Ryan Smith has also joined the club along with striker Mamudo Dabo, with the pair making the switch from the Tranmere Rovers Development squad.

They join former Chester FC Youth player Kai Willis, with the 18-year-old central midfielder agreeing a loan move to Cae-y-Castell.

Gresford Athletic's squad has undergone a major overhaul already this summer, with boss Steve Halliwell working quickly to offset recent losses.

The Colliers have moved quickly to cope with the departure of club captain Max Peate, along with influential trio Dave McIntyre, Mikey Latham and Joey Jones.

Powerful forward Jordan MacCarter has made the switch from Ruthin Town, with central Kieran Evans joining from Runcorn Town.

The pair will be joined by ex-Brickfield Rangers striker Sam Molyneux, winger Joe Newton, former Caernarfon goalkeeper Mike Jones.

Cymru Alliance fixtures for the opening weekend of the 2018/19 season have been announced by league officials.

Two evening clashes on August 10 see Gresford host Denbigh Town and Holywell Town visit Ruthin.

Buckley Town face a tough trip to Bangor City a day later when Flint entertain Holyhead Hotspur and Airbus head to Prestatyn.
