HUW GRIFFITHS wants to make up for the "one regret" of 2012 by helping one of his Cefn Druids players score a Europa League goal.

Griffiths led the Ancients into the competition six years ago against MyPa after finishing as Welsh Cup runners-up to The New Saints, Druids drawing the home leg at The Racecourse 0-0 before losing the reverse fixture 5-0.

This time around, Druids have secured a preliminary round clash with FK Trakai of Lithuania after winning the Welsh Premier League play-off final, and Griffiths has a target in mind.

"It's not going to be easy," said Griffiths. "We would have had a fighting chance against one of the other teams, but if we manage nothing else, I want us to score a goal this time.

"We will be looking at the videos ahead of the match, but why can't we go out and get somebody from Cefn Druids a Europa League goal? "It might be that we decide to have a right good go at them.

"My one regret from last time is that we didn't score. We kept things tight in the home leg and only attacked once we were 4-0 down in the away leg.

"We are a better team this time around and we want to have a go at them, we've got the players, whoever we play against, to cause people problems.

"It's not easy to defend against pace and we've got that, we looked sharp against a trialist team at the weekend and we will be enjoy the fixture."

Druids, who will face FK Trakai at The New Saints' Park Hall on Thursday, June 28, before the reverse leg a week later, have re-signed Fisnik Hajdari ahead of the Europa League adventure.

One man who won't be part of the Druids squad is Mike Pritchard, the attacker deciding to leave The Rock after playing a key role in the club's Europa League qualification.

Griffiths said: "Pritch isn't signing back. He's decided to move on and it's a shame because I wanted him to stay.

"He's been with me for a long time, he's helped us win promotion, finish in our best-ever league position and qualify for Europe.

"We wish him all the best for the future."
