MIDWEEK CRICKET: It's tight at the top of Division One

Table topping Mold saw their lead cut to just one point after their trip to Red Lion was rained off and Academicals and Tarporley both won.

Academicals (92-4) were 18-run victors at Marchwiel and Wrexham (74-7), while Tarporley (103-5) defeated Kingsley Knights (99-7) by five wickets.

Hawarden Park, in fourth, posted 112 for nine, Nathan Humphreys claiming 3-20, before restricting Llay Welfare to 102 for seven to secure a 10-run triumph.

Division Two leaders Brymbo Brewers maintained their perfect start to the campaign with a four-wicket win over HGWCC, who posted 103 for seven from their 20 overs.

Mike Jones and Paul Hickey saw their half centuries go to waste as Golden Eagle (190-1) were beaten by eight wickets at West Cheshire Xbatters (191-2), while Cornerhouse's home game with Chester Lions and Mynydd Isa's clash against Saughall were rained off.

There was just one completed match in Division Three as Gresford (131-8) defeated West Kirby (79) by 52 runs, although Gwersyllt Park clinched a walkover win as The Groves failed to raise a side.

The three Division Four matches went the way of the form sides as Saightonians, Northop Hall and Abergele all secured victories.

Leaders Saightonians (84-1) defeated Bromborough (83-7) by nine wickets, second placed Northop Hall (112-4) beat Outlaws (111) by six wickets and Abergele (99-8) overcame Oakmere (98) by two wickets.

Bank of America and Wirral remain with perfect Division Five victories after they both secured a fourth win of the season.

Frodsham (96) had no answer to Bank of America (97-2) as the leaders won by eight wickets, while Wirral (111) beat Westminster Park (79) by 32 runs.

Dodleston (148-2), in third, overcame Oak Tree Outlaws (147-2) by eight wickets.

Buckley (83-1) wrapped up a fifth Division Six success in a row as they beat Chester Taverners (77-6) by nine wickets, while Defib (129-3) saw off MP Plumbing (100-8) by 29 runs.
