BRYMBO eased into the third round of the Welsh Cup courtesy of a six-wicket success at Denbigh.

The North Wales League Premier Division rivals went head-to-head at Ystrad Road with Brymbo impressing in the field after winning the toss.

Four run-outs as well as wickets for Daniel Monk (2-26) and Ben Roberts (2-28) saw Denbigh bowled out for just 167, opener Gerallt Lyall top scoring with 40.

Roberts (27) and Connor Davies (21) helped get Brymbo's reply off to a solid start, before David Blackwell starred with an unbeaten 70 from 71 balls, including 10 fours and a six, to get his side across the line with 7.2 overs to spare.

Colwyn Bay are also through to the new stage of the competition after defeated Northop by 129 runs.

George Johansen came back to haunt the Flintshire side, the talented batsman who grew up in Northop scoring 121 of his side's 283 for six, which included a 138 third wicket stand with Adam Campion.

Northop put up a fight after the turnaround, but fell well short of the total needed for victory as they were restricted to 154 for six.
