GWERSYLLT PARK registered a fourth victory in a row against Ruthin to remain top of Division Two.

Ruthin were put into bat and openers Dafydd Roberts (43) and Ieuan Wynne Lewis (65) gave the hosts a superb start.

But after they departed only Stephen Bryan-Jones (38) got into double figures as Ruthin finished their 45 overs on 183 for 9, Ryan Collier (4 for 31), Michael Griffiths (3 for 32) and Jack Watkins (2 for 26) doing the damage.

In reply, all the Gwersyllt batsmen made starts with George Miles (43), James Collier (38) and Scott Watkins (28) top scoring in their winning score of 184 for 4.

Carmel and District sit fourth following their 32 runs success against Corwen.

Dafydd Bailey top scored with 44 as Carmel made 157 for 8.

The total proved enough as Corwen were all out for 125, Nathan Aldridgetop scoring with 57.

Buckley are down to fifth position after losing by four runs against Bodedern who made 161 for 8, Lee Taylor taking 3 for 31.

Joseph Norman cracked 48 for Buckley but he lacked support and they were dismissed for 157.

In the 2nd XI League Premier Division, leaders Gresford scored a comfortable nine wickets success against Carmel and District.

Jonathan Fisher (39) scored more than half of Carmel's runs as they were sent packing for just 77, Alex Morton finishing with 3 for 10, Matt Daulby and Tomos Roberts both claiming two victims.

It was never going to be enough and Gresford reached a winning 78 for 1 off 13.1 overs, Ross Willets departing after making 34.

Second placed Northop overcame Pontblyddyn by five wickets.

Tom Sudder (45), Scott Oates (37) and Harry Bartlem (37no) were in the runs as Northop posted 191 for 5, Sion Thomas taking 2 for 38.

Jac Hewitt made 62 at the top of the Pont order but only Nick Thomas (31) and Aled Roberts (21) offered support as their side finished on 146 for 9, Andrew Oates (4 for 28) the pick of the bowlers.

Brymbo in fourth defeated Hawarden Park by 52 runs after finishing with 191 for 7 in their innings.

Elliot Hughes top scored with 37 as four other players got into the 20s for Brymbo with Peter Hinton taking 3 for 44.

Hinton led the way with an unbeaten 54 for Park, Ahmed Javed weighing in with 30, but they were all out for 139 with Elliot Hughes 4 for 22.

Buckley (84) slumped to a four wickets defeat against Llay Welfare (85 for 6) and Bangor beat Denbigh by four wickets.

Jon Eccles made 37 of Denbigh's 124 runs and Bangor triumphed with 125 for 6, Simon Williams and Stuart Griffiths taking two wickets apiece.

In the 2nd XI League East Division, Gwersyllt Park inflicted a first loss on leaders Maeshafn Argoed who went down by 27 runs.

Put into bat, Gwersyllt reached 161 for 8 with Mike Griffiths unbeaten on 36 and Ethan McCarthy making 32.

Maeshafn found the going tough in their innings and finished on 134 for 9, Shaun Hughes starring with 3 for 39 and Ethan McCarthy 2 for 8 as Daniel Jones, Griffiths, Stephen Conner and Ben Griffiths each took a wicket.

Halkyn celebrated a 122 runs success against Marchwiel and Wrexham.

Shaun Gibson fired a superb 124 not out to go with Vishal Mony's 30 as Halkyn made 216 for 7, Oliver Heard-Edwards finishing with 3 for 30.

Opener Jeremy Wilks cracked 34 but his team-mates didn't hang around for long and Marchwiel were dismissed for 94, Josh Edwards taking 4 for 17, Vishal Mony 2 for 11 and Daniel Williams 2 for 21.

Castell Alun conceded yet another game, this time against Connah's Quay.
