It was a tough day at the office for the Flintshire and Wrexham-based Premier Division sides.

Northop fared the best of the Flintshire trio, but lost at Llandudno by four wickets, while Hawarden Park were beaten by seven wickets at Denbigh and Connah’s Quay suffered a 147-run loss to Bangor.

The Wrexham-based contingent were equally disappointing as Chirk lost by five wickets to Menai Bridge, Brymbo were beaten by six wickets at St Asaph and Gresford went down at Pwllheli by 177 runs.

Chirk captain Andrew Swarbrick didn’t deserve to finish on the losing side against Menai as he pocketed 5-13 from seven overs.

But the damage had already been done as Chirk’s batsmen were skittled for just 52 inside 27 overs, only two home players reaching double figures as Gethin Roberts (5-25) and Gerallt Roberts (4-13) caused havoc.

Gresford could only score 14 more runs than Chirk as they were comfortably beaten at Pwllheli.

After winning the toss, hosts Pwllheli were able to score 243 for even from their 50 overs, before they rolled Gresford out for just 66 in reply.

Brymbo lost their grip on top spot as they lost by six wickets at St Asaph, who saw Will Ryan hit an unbeaten 66 to get them over the winning line, Mohamed Nilam Jayman and Dan Parry with two wickets apiece.

That knock from Ryan came after Brymbo had been bowled out for just 130, the visitors unable to stem the steady flow of wickets.

Greg King (37), Gareth Pugh (29) and Joss Roberts (21) were the main run makers for Brymbo.

Northop were unable to make it back-to-back victories over Llandudno as they slipped to a hard-fought defeat.

A series of starts from the likes of Ben Beaver (36), Gareth Williams (34), Harry Lewis (24), Tom Blackwell (23) and Danny Nicholson (23) helped Northop post 190.

Bart Beswick bagged 3-39 after the turnaround, but Keegan Armstrong anchored the Llandudno reply, hitting an unbeaten 90 to see his side to victory with 17 balls to spare.

Connah’s Quay slipped to the foot of the table as they were beaten by 147 runs at the hands of Bangor, who posted 250 for six.

David Winter’s fine season continued as he struck 86, while Robert Marshall hit 67 not out as Bangor took control of proceedings.

With captain Martin Burger absent and David Fox and Matt Redinger scoring just seven runs between them, the Quay reply struggled to get going.

Scott Adams struck 52, but no other batsmen passed 13 as Quay were bundled out for just 103 inside 25 overs.

Hawarden Park slipped to a seven-wicket defeat at Denbigh after being bowled out for 139 having won the toss.

James Rowlands hit 36, but it was slow going for Hawarden, before Denbigh’s reply got off to a quick start.

The Flintshire side managed to halt Denbigh’s race for the line, but the home side did secure victory with ease.
