Brymbo made it two wins in as many days as they cruised into the first round of the Welsh Cup with a nine-wicket win over Llay Welfare.

James Claybrook’s side needed 53 overs to thrash Pwllheli by seven wickets on Saturday, and it took only 30 balls more for them to beat their Wrexham rivals the following afternoon.

Mohamed Nilam Jayman continued his fine start to the season with another impressive all-round performance, which started with 4-8 as Llay were bowled out for just 95, Dave Phennah’s 27 the highlight for Llay.

Jayman added a top score of 47 after the turnaround before departing, skipper Claybrook (31 not out) and Greg King (14no) taking their side to victory with almost half of their overs remaining.

Brymbo will now face Gwersyllt Park in round one on Sunday, May 13.

Connah’s Quay host Northop Hall, Carmel face Prestatyn and Buckley entertain Abergele, while Gresford visit Colwyn Bay, Hawarden Park head to Dolgellau and Northop tackle visiting Llandudno.
