NORTHOP HALL were dumped out of the Ray Tyler Cup courtesy of a seven-wicket defeat to Old Xaverians.

Having won the toss, Hall set about posting 194 for eight from their 45 overs as Old Xaverians restricted the home side.

And Xaverians needed just 29 overs of their reply to reach 195 for three in reply, Andrew Rose hitting an unbeaten 61.

Hall Seconds found the going tough as they lost their Second XI First Division trip to Highfield by nine wickets.

Having been asked to bat first, Hall were bowled out for just 128, Gareth Fox and extras top scoring with 22 apiece, while Ryan Dunning (19) and Liam Evans-Ford (18) added vital runs down the order.

Evans-Ford also picked up an early wicket in the Highfield reply, but that was the end of the joy for Hall as Mike Pimblett (66no) and Jim Ashton (54no) eased their side home after 25 overs.

Overton bounced back with a win at Guilsfield in Shropshire League Division Four with Harry Davis playing a starring role.

He hit 38 in Overton's 207 all out and then landed 3-35 as the hosts collapsed to 105 all out.

Other key performers for Overton with the bat were Rob Lawrenson (43), Scott Lawrenson (37) and Paul England (35).

Will Smith also did his best with the ball, taking 4-16.
