NORTHOP missed out on a place in the Welsh Cup semi-finals after losing to Colwyn Bay by 168 runs.

Selwyn Morris struck 85 at the top of the order after Bay were invited to bat first, the opener hitting six fours and two sixes in his 98-ball knock.

Former Northop Hall all-rounder Will Higginson struck a 26-ball unbeaten 59 as Bay reached 267 for four from their 40 overs after Darren Williams had taken 2-26 for the Flintshire outfit.

Harry Lewis was in the runs at the top of the order in Northop’s reply with 44 from 78 balls, which included four fours and a six.

But once he departed, only Tom Blackwell (12) reached double figures for Northop, who were eventually bowled out for 99.

Bay will now head to Mumbles for a place in the final of the competition.
