WREXHAM FC player-boss Andy Morrell wants winning to become a habit.

Wrexham host Tamworth tomorrow (Saturday, December 29) in the final game of 2012 having missed out on promotion last season despite amassing a club record 98 points as they were pipped to the title by Fleetwood Town.

And although pleased with how things have gone on the pitch, Morrell is hoping for a different outcome in April.

“I think we have been entertaining at times, we have won a lot of football matches pretty much the majority the right way and that is the way I want to keep it,” said Morrell.

“Can we go one better? Who knows, there is a long way to go. We have got some tough games coming up but if we play like we did against Telford on Wednesday, when we dug in and were hard to beat, then we have got every chance of doing well again.

“I don’t think it will be 98 or 100-odd points winning it. People will take points off each other. It is the one that can be the most consistent that will probably go up so fingers crossed that is us.”

Morrell wants Wrexham to build on Wednesday’s 4-1 victory over Telford and embark on an unbeaten run that will boost the Reds’ promotion challenge but he knows Tamworth will be tough opponents.

“It is now a case of can we get that momentum going again?” added Morrell. “I said last week that we seem to take two steps forward and one step back, can we get on that run again and win a few on the spin because if you do, it keeps you up at the right end of the table.

“It is going to be another tough game, Tamworth are going to play exactly the same way other teams have done here.

“They will be tight and tough to break down but we just need to be better with the ball, play in the right areas and look to take three points and keep going.

“We have got to keep the foot on the pedal and try to do the same again.”
