PLAYER-MANAGER Andy Morrell was delighted with his side’s response as Wrexham came from behind to beat Southport 4-1 at Haig Avenue last night.

Trailing 1-0 at the break, Wrexham levelled on 55 minutes through Jay Harris’ deflected 25 yard drive after Southport had been reduced to 10 men.

Three goals in the space of eight minutes, courtesy of an own goal, substitute Rob Ogleby and defender Chris Westwood, completed the comeback as Wrexham got back to winning ways in the league.

“The conditions played havoc,” said Morrell. “The pitch played really good but the wind was stronger than people probably thought.

“We had a couple of chances in the first half as well – ricochetes and the keeper saved. They had a couple of shots from outside the area but nothing too great.

“Then it is our throw-in in their corner which ends up in our net from just being sloppy really and not doing things right.

“Then half-time it was one of those, backs against the wall here lads, so how are we going to react? And I thought second half we were really, really good, a completely different team.”

    Morrell needs to sign a creative midfielder in the Fowler mould and a proven striker like Mangan to bolster and freshen up a threadbare squad. He should also consider not playing at a level below his former best to concentrate on making prospective signings. I wonder too whether Barr, his assistant has sufficient contacts in this field to address the team's deficiencies.

    get rid of him he no manger i did say last year that wrexham will not go up so this year lower down the table y the manger, you need some one thats good in telling his players, i say this to andy morrell go to knighton in powys look at the players i bet you see a player or to that you put on your books just go and look top players
