MANY more tributes have been paid to a young Wrexham man who died while on holiday in Magaluf.

Tomas Owen (Tom) Hughes, 20, of New Road, Stansty, Rhosddu, a former pupil of Rhosnesni High School, is believed to have fallen 65ft from a balcony in Majorca on June 3.

Mr Hughes was employed by Freedom Leisure and was “much loved” by his friends at Rhosnesni Activity and Leisure Centre and the other Freedom Leisure centres where he worked.

A spokesman for Freedom Leisure said: “Tom was very popular with other members of staff and customers and will be sadly missed by all.

“Everyone has been deeply saddened.”

Mr Hughes had transferred to the company from Wrexham Council in March 2016 and had recently been promoted to facility supervisor in recognition of his excellent performance over the past couple of years.

The spokesman added: “Tom was a conscientious, reliable, endearing young man who was a very valued member of the team.

“Our thoughts are very much with Tom’s family, friends and colleagues at this extremely difficult time.”

A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are providing assistance to the family of a British man who died on 3 June in Mallorca, and are in contact with the Spanish authorities.”

Tributes to Mr Hughes also continued to pour in on social media.

On the LeaderLive Facebook page Kaylee Dean said: “Such a beautiful young man. It was an absolute honour to have known you Tom.

“Thoughts are with your lovely mum and dad. Such a tragedy.”

Gareth Roberts added: “He was a cracking lad, really well mannered. It’s extremely sad news. I’m shocked.”

On the GoFundMe fundraising page set up by Mr Hughes’ friends to support his family, more than £7,000 has already been raised.

Tributes continued to be left on that page, with Caroline Conniff adding: “Tom was a lovely young lad.

“I saw him grow up be a very caring man. He will be very sadly missed. Our hearts go out to Steve and Sharon at this very sad time.”

Fiona Andrew added: “Totally devastating news. Such a lovely and polite young man I’ve seen grow up.

“My heart goes out to Sharon and Steve.”

Paul and Sheila Smith said: “Words cannot express how sad we feel for the loss of Tom, a fine young man.

“And our thoughts are with his Mum and Dad.”
