UP-AND-COMING Welsh folk singer and Ysgol Morgan Llwyd pupil Elan Catrin Parry performed a small gig at Ty Pawb last Friday.

In an intimate gig attended by friends a family, Elan performed two songs including her debut single Anfonaf Angel.

Elan has been making waves in the Welsh music scene since her record deal with Decca including making an appearance on the ITV show 'This Time Next Year'.

Speaking about her experience, Elan said: "It's really a shock. People from Decca were at the Eisteddfod and they asked me to go for an audition down in Swansea and then a final audition in London. I saw a few people in London that I'd seen at the Eisteddfods but I think I was the only one that got a contract.

"I think ITV was looking for people suitable for the show and I think Decca got in touch before I'd even signed the contract.

"Everyone is more supportive than I thought. Only my family knew but it was so surreal it was quite easy to keep it a secret.

"I wasn't planning on a career singing but if that's where it goes I'll be happy. I just want to carry on performing and doing more concerts."
