A MOTORIST has been banned from the wheel for a month after a court heard how he was caught driving at more than twice the speed limit.

Krzysztof Najderek, 31, was travelling at 82mph in a 40mph area in Flintshire.

Najderek, of Ffordd Canton, Bagillt, admitted he broke the 40mph speed restriction in a VW Passat just after midnight on October 15.

Prosecutor Alun Williams said the reason a speed camera had been put up in that area was because there had been a number of fatal road collisions.

“This man was travelling at more than double the speed limit,” he told Flintshire Magistrates Court at Mold.

Magistrates said it was a notorious danger spot where there had been fatal collisions.

Chairman Terry Eastham said his speed of 82mph was “just ridiculous and highly irresponsible”.

He said it was so reckless and dangerous to other road users that there had to be a driving disqualification.

In view of his guilty plea he was banned from driving for 28 days, fined £276 with £85 costs and a £30 surcharge.

Najderek, who followed the proceedings with the aid of a Polish interpreter, said he wished to apologise to the court.

He said it was never going to happen again.
