A NEW mayor is to focus on the regeneration of his town.

Husband and wife David and Carol Ellis have officially been appointed as mayor and mayoress of Buckley for 2018/19.

Cllr David Ellis, who served as deputy mayor for the previous year, told the Leader he will be looking mainly at the regeneration of Buckley during his time in the role.

He explained: "I will be focusing on trying to do the best for Buckley's regeneration and I have organised a meeting with Jack Sargeant AM, Mark Tami MP and the town centre manager of Buckley to discuss whether anything can be done in terms of initiatives in the town.

"We need more in the town itself, such as restaurants, bars, and an eatery.
