Hundreds of pounds were raised at a sale to benefit a refugee support group.

Refugee Essentials, North East Wales (RENEW) held a special pre-loved sale and coffee event at Bistre Emmanuel Church, Buckley.

Volunteers put out stalls selling books, computer games, DVDs and CDs, men, women and children’s clothing, fancy dress outfits and party dresses while coffee and cake was provided by a team of parishioners, led by Kath Jones.

Visitors also took the opportunity to make posies for Mother’s Day and the tombola stall proved popular while younger visitors had a go at the lucky dip and ‘Trash or Treasure’ game.

A total of £250 was raised, which has been split between Bistre Emmanuel Church and RENEW.

Clair Jones, RENEW co-founder, said: “We would like to thank the Rev Martin Bachelor and his team, for giving RENEW the opportunity to use the church hall every Wednesday for our Buckley community donate and sort session.

“Please check our Facebook page for up to date opening times generally from 10am to 3.30pm and again from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

“We love to meet new volunteers, so please pop in and find out more about our work and how you can make a difference to the lives of refugees held in camps across Syria and Europe.”
