Work is underway on a new temporary building to celebrate the 25th year of a Flintshire pre-school club.

Pupils at Cylch Meithrin Mornant, at at Ysgol Gymraeg Mornant, Picton, are pleased to see their cabin being replaced with a more modern and larger structure, " securing the future of the successful Cylch Meithrin for many more years to come."

The Cylch Meithrin, which has been on the Mornant site for 25 years aims to celebrate it's silver anniversary inside the spacious cabin.

Deputy headteacher, Lynne Jones from Ysgol Gymraeg Mornant, and Michelle Brook-Jones, Cylch Meithrin leader, secured a £10,000 grant from Gwynt y Môr Offshore Wind Farm Community Fund for the revamp.

They also received £7,000 from North Wales Coalfields during Autumn 2017 to replace the old cabin that was damp and leaking.

Mrs Jones said: "Securing the grants and the cabin has been a lifeline for the Cylch Meithrin and for Ysgol Mornant. The project has involved a lot of teamwork from parents and contractors and it's very exciting seeing the work getting underway."

The project is managed by Mike Bradley from Innogy Renewables at Mostyn, who is a parent of a nursery pupil at Mornant, Haydn Hughes from Hollingsworth Brothers Ltd, and Jim O'Toole, the managing director of the Port of Mostyn.

The new cabin is more than double it's predecessor's size, and will also be used as a hub for community events which should ensure the continued support for Cylch Meithrin, the school and the Welsh language in the Picton area and beyond.
