AN ASSEMBLY member spent the morning with schoolchildren to see first-hand how a Welsh Government programme is helping them.

Clwyd South AM Ken Skates visited Ysgol y Waun, Chirk, to hear more about the Lead Creative School Scheme, which is part-funded by the Arts Council for Wales (ACW). Gwenfair Hughes, from the ACW, explained the project explored whether a multi-arts, multi-sensory approach can boost children’s enthusiasm.

Mr Skates said: “The project is about helping children learn through the arts and aims to promote new ways of working in schools. It was fascinating to see the pupils trying new things and they seemed to be thoroughly enjoying their work. It was a really fun morning.”
