Little Red Riding Hood, Alice in Wonderland, several Harry Potters and even Captain Underpants made an appearance at Gwernymynydd Primary School during World Book Day.

Deputy headteacher Dafydd Johnson says children braved the snow to attend school in some fabulous costumes.

He said: “Children always enjoy dressing up and we wanted them to celebrate their favourite books. Anything that gets children engaged with reading and books is a good thing and very worthwhile.

“We also spent time reading and listening to stories. Everyone, including staff, had a great time and really enjoyed the day.”
