POLICE are concerned a recent theft is related to the production of a drug.

South Flintshire Inspector Darren Whibberley, North Wales Police, said overnight thefts between Monday and Tuesday occurred at Padeswood and Mold golf clubs.

Batteries were stolen from golf buggies at both clubs, and Insp Whibberley fears these thefts relate to the production of dangerous addictive drugs such as crystal methamphetamine, known as 'crystal meth.'

Insp Whibberley said: "Due to the power of the batteries, they are being targeted as they can be used in the production of addictive drugs, such as crystal meth.

"Equally, the theft could be as simple as theft for scrap but we cannot discount this possibility.

"Any businesses that make us of golf buggy-derived vehicles should review their security arrangements."
