A MAN who broke a pane of glass in a Wrexham pub has been handed a 12-month conditional discharge.

Stephen Bustin was seen to walk past the the Ironworks public house in Town Hill and push another man out of the way before rolling up his sleeve and throwing a punch at a window, Wrexham Magistrates' Court was told.

"He said he'd had a couple of pints of Guinness and, a lager and a cocktail," said prosecutor Helen Tench. "He said he wouldn't have acted in such away if he'd been sober."

Bustin, 22, of Bridgeway West, Pentre Broughton admitted criminal damage on April 21.

Laura Preston-Hayes, defending, said Bustin, who suffered from anxiety and depression, thought he had been grabbed by someone.

"He didn't know who had grabbed him and he lashed out with his hand," said Ms Preston-Hayes.

Bustin was also ordered to pay £54 compensation for the damage to the window, a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.
