A FATHER told of his fear after what he thinks was a gunshot hit his bedroom window.

Darren Roberts, 37, told how his three-year-old daughter Florence was in her cot nearby when what he believes was a BB gun was fired at their home in St Anne’s Court, Caia Park, at around 8pm on Tuesday night.

Of whoever was responsible, he said: “They’re bored, childish thugs with nothing better to do with their time.”

Darren, who was bringing up some milk for Florence at the time, told how he heard a noise on the landing, but looked out of the window and could not see anything.

As he walked into the bedroom he heard and second noise and the first pane of the first floor window broke.

Darren said that police seemed to think it was a BB gun rather than a pellet weapon because a pellet would have stayed in the window.

Little Florence, who was just five feet away from the window, was not hurt but was shaken up by the incident.

“She was scared and crying,” he said.

Her brother Liam, 10, seven-year-old sister Eva and six-year-old Blake - who has a rare chromosome disorder - were in other rooms at the time.

Liam and Eva stayed the night with Florence at Darren’s mother because they were frightened by the incident.

Darren’s wife Charlotte, 30, was away caring for her brother at the time of the incident.

After the window broke, Darren saw three men aged 18-20 on the playing field close to his home.

They were walking away as he was calling police, but then started walking back.

His brother Adrian, 26, chased them off soon after but police could not find them, Darren added.

Darren, who is a full time carer for Blake, added that he felt nervous about being in the house after the incident.

He added: “It was a pointless act and so it bothers me that it’s something that would happen again.”

A North Wales Police spokesman said they received a report at around 8.20pm that a man believed his window has been shot with an air rifle.

However, the spokesman added that no weapon had been seen and no ammunition found.

Three males wearing dark clothing were seen in the area and left towards Cefn Road and then Coed Aben, the spokesman added.
