UP to ten jobs have been created at a new recycling facility.

North Wales-based recycling and logistics firm Allan Morris has launched a new 87,000 square foot recycling plant with the support of a seven-figure funding package from HSBC.

The new Deeside facility will allow the business to double its recycling capacity as well as integrate sorting, baling, processing and storage all on a single site.

The business, which celebrated its 125th anniversary this year, expects to process an extra 50,000 tonnes of recycled paper per year and create up to 10 jobs.

Terry Axon, managing director of Allan Morris, said: “It’s fantastic to be celebrating a significant anniversary with such a positive investment in the future of Allan Morris.

"The recycling plant will not only create new local jobs but also make a serious environmental contribution.

"We’re incredibly proud to contribute to an industry focused on bettering the environment and look forward to working in the new facility.”

Heather Elvin, HSBC relationship manager for Merseyside and North Wales, added: “Allan Morris is an impressive business with a strong reputation across both the haulage and waste management industries.

"We’re delighted to support green industries and it’s great to help a company with such a long history create new jobs and secure a cleaner future.”

The new facility, and increased production capacity, has enabled the business to secure a larger contract with UPM Shotton paper, a global supplier of high end graphic paper.

HSBC funding has also supported Allan Morris in updating their fleet to the latest Euro 6 compliant engines.

Originating in Chester, Allan Morris has also established itself in the recycling and waste management sector.

The business entered the sector after launching its first recycling facility A.M.Recycling in 2008 and will have capacity of up to 100,000 tonnes of mixed papers per year.
