Experts from Google are heading to Wrexham to pass on their skills to small businesses and anyone looking to learn more about digital marketing.

Ian Lucas, Labour MP for Wrexham and a member of the House of Commons Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee, has arranged to bring the Google Digital Garage roadshow to the town.

It rolls into Wrexham’s new business hub, Town Square, on Friday, May 11 and is free to anyone who wishes to attend.

Mr Lucas is delighted the search engine giants will be sharing the secrets of social media success in the town.

He said: “The arrival of the Google Digital Garage in Wrexham is a wonderful opportunity for our local businesses, start-ups and digital marketers to engage with one of the world’s most successful businesses and hear they can succeed in a digital world.

“I’d urge anyone interested to book a place now if they want to know more about how to use digital skills to achieve success.

“I’d also like to thank Google for agreeing to my request to bring this event to Wrexham.”

Ronan Harris, Google UK and Ireland managing director, added: "In the digital age, a basic understanding of how the online world works is useful and when it comes to business, it’s essential.

“We are delighted to bring the Google Digital Garage to Wrexham and ensure everyone has access to free digital skills workshops and one-to-one coaching.

“We hope you’ll pop in and get the skills you need to grow your confidence, career, or business’.”

The Google Digital Garage will be based at Wrexham’s new enterprise hub at Queen’s Square, Rhosddu Road, and will run through the day. It opens at 10am with a series of workshops running through to 4pm.

The event will showcase how to best use social media platforms to succeed, for both individuals and businesses. The classes will cover everything from building digital marketing plans to social media strategy, getting your business visible on Google and digital advertising.

All of the courses are free to attend but spaces are limited so booking in advance is advised. You can attend the whole day or just the courses specific to your requirements.
