WREXHAM’S new enterprise hub is set to be launched soon.

Work is taking place around the clock to get the business hub, which will be based in the former Iceland store on Queens Square, ready for business.

Carl Turner from Town Square Spaces, which is delivering the project for Business Wales, told this month’s Wrexham Town Centre Forum that 20 people had already approached them to sign up.

Mr Turner added the ribbon-cutting to launch the hub will likely take place in mid-May.

The hub, which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government, was announced last year by economy and transport secretary Ken Skates, Assembly Member for Clwyd South, and aims to support 100 new businesses and create 260 jobs in its first two years.

The two-year pilot will also focus on securing at least £1 million of private investment for its members as well as building a community of entrepreneurs that will boost the local economy.

It will act as a community resource, bringing local people and businesses together in a creative and collaborative space.

The building on Rhosddu Road, in units formerly occupied by Iceland and Pebble, is currently undergoing renovation and development.

Business Wales supports sustainable growth of small and medium-size enterprises across the region by offering access to information, guidance and business support.
