AN APPRENTICE is celebrating her success at a top awards event.

Coleg Cambria apprentice engineer Gina Gibb, from the Wirral, is employed by Magellan Aerospace in Llay.

At the Future Manufacturing Awards 2017 held in London recently, she was named national runner-up in the intermediate and advanced apprentice - first year award.

The Future Manufacturing Awards are about celebrating success, rewarding change, building partnerships, developing good practice and highlighting manufacturing at its finest.

The apprentice award was developed for intermediate and advanced level apprentices who have done the most to seize the training and development opportunities presented to them during the first year of their engineering apprenticeship programme.

Salah Berdouk, Coleg Cambria’s deputy director for curriculum for engineering, said: “Gina has excelled since she joined us at Coleg Cambria as a Magellan Aerospace apprentice.

"She is always positive and keen to develop herself and others. Her technical knowledge and abilities are of the highest standard.

"She is a great communicator and has fitted well at Coleg Cambria.

“We are so pleased for Gina as she was the runner-up for the national winners of Future Manufacturing Awards 2017 and was the first year Intermediate and advanced apprentice award winner 2017 for Wales.

“We believe that Gina has a bright future ahead of her.”
