WREXHAM FC produced a superb performance to secure a 3-1 win at Altrincham.
There may have been reservations made by Wrexham about the condition of the Moss Lane pitch but there was no doubt manager Dean Saunders was glad Saturday's game went ahead when the final whistle blew.
Wrexham were superb, particularly in the first half. Some of the attacking football produced in the first 45 minutes was as well as Wrexham have played all season as they kept going at Altrincham.
Andy Mangan got Wrexham off to a fantastic start as he scored his first goal for the club after just four minutes, and he also set up Wes Baynes for the second.
Wrexham should have been further ahead by the break but they failed to take other chances that came their way.
And while Wrexham did not hit the same heights in the second half, they were still too good for Altrincham and had more opportunities to extend their lead.
Substitute Mark Jones eventually grabbed the third firing in a 20-yard strike, with Mangan acting as a decoy, but hopes of a third consecutive clean sheet were dashed when Altrincham scored a late penalty.
It was only Mangan's third game for Wrexham since joining from Forest Green after serving a five month ban impsosed in July for breaching betting rules.
But Mangan has already had a huge impact. As well as scoring his first goal and weighing in with an assist, there is no denying that Mangan's pressence on the pitch has give Wrexham a lift.
