A WRITER for the hit soap Emmerdale has turned her pen from the Yorkshire Dales to Loggerheads Country Park.

Janys Chambers, who once wrote about warring lovers Cain and Chastity in the long running soap, has written a festive tale to be told at the park during December.

“I was asked to come up with a story that celebrated the flora and fauna of the park and was quite challenged by that,” said Janys, from Llanfwrog, near Ruthin.

“There wouldn’t be any religious references, or even any humans in the story but there must be plenty of plants and animals.”

The storytelling sessions are part of a special Loggerheads Christmas experience, which also includes a riverside trail and a visit by Santa.

Janys, who wrote for Emmerdale for five years, has also appeared as an actress in Coronation Street, The Royal and Brookside.

“I absolutely love the story,” said Vanessa Warrington, countryside officer. “Janys has cleverly woven some of the history of the park into a rich adventure where the incredible animals and plants are the main characters.

“She has even included some of the myths and mysteries that add to the excitement.
“I’ve already booked my son in for the first session.”

Janys’ Christmas story will be told over the next three weeks at the park.
Tickets are £8.50 per child. Call 01352 810397 for details.
