A TEENAGER struggled with a police officer because she did not want to return to the children’s home she was staying at.
The 14-year-old girl appeared before Wrexham youth court to admit resisting a police constable on Gerald Street, Wrexham on November 11.
She also admitted causing criminal damage to a police cell in Wrexham on November 18.
John Wilde, prosecuting, said: “At 12.10am police received information that she was reported missing.
“They found her and returned her back at 1am but she absconded again.
“Care worker staff had concerns for her safety.”
Mr Wilde said that the girl, who cannot be named because of her age, was found on Gerald Street at 4.40am with a male friend.
“On seeing police she walked away,” said Mr Wilde. “Police asked her to stop and she said ‘no’.
“She was followed by an officer and ran away.
“There was a struggle and she continued to struggle with the officer as he took her into the police car.
“She said she was with a male friend and did not want to go back to the home.”
The court heard that the youth was already subject to a nine-month referral order which began in November.
Euros Jones, defending, said: “She has been in care for one year and has had six placements.”
Speaking about the criminal damage to the police cell, Mr Jones explained: “There was some paint flaking and she continued where someone else had started.”
Magistrates agreed to extend the current nine month referral order by a further three months.
She was also told to pay £85 costs.
