PASSERS by were left stunned when they spotted this baby seal stranded on the banks of the River Dee.
Surprised onlookers were ready to call in rescue teams after witnessing the pint sized mammal as it struggled to get back into the water.
Staff members from Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC) and the firm Bam Nuttall were passing by when they managed to capture the seal on camera on the banks of the Dee close to the weir in Chester just after 1.30pm yesterday.
The employees were about to call in rescue teams when the seal managed to eventually free itself from the bank and slipped back into the Dee.
One passer by said: “There was a little commotion and on closer inspection we could see the seal writhing about on the river bank. It appeared to be a little frantic.
"It was obviously as shocked as anyone at finding itself stuck on the bank. Thankfully, it managed to free itself after a time and did not seem hurt in any way.”
