A FLINTSHIRE woman was murdered by a man she met on the internet after she ended their relationship, it has been claimed in court.
Mold Crown Court heard Karen McGraw, 50 had been terrified of Trevor Ferguson, who allegedly went to her Connah's Quay home, kicked the door open and ran in with a pointed fisherman's filleting knife.
Ferguson denies murder. The first day of his trial yesterday was told Mrs McGraw fled in fear through the patio doors but was trapped by the side gate which she had locked to prevent him coming in.
It is claimed Ferguson, 49 then stabbed her three times with such force that he broke the knife and left the blade stuck in her body from her.
Ferguson, from Sale near Manchester fled the scene taking the handle of the knife with him, which he later hid in undergrowth.
It was alleged in court that he may also have gone looking for a previous girlfriend with the knife that night. In a later interview he told police how he lost his temper and said that he admitted murdering Mrs McGraw.
But the jury was told that he now denies murdering her at her home in Tecwyn Drive, Connah's Quay, on July 23 this year and claims provocation and diminished responsibility, which if proved would reduce the crime to manslaughter.
