Rhos Aelwyd have progressed to the quarter finals of the Welsh Trophy with a convincing 5-3 victory over Penmaenmawr Phoenix.

Tony Cann bagged a hat-trick but it was two early headed goals from Tom Davies and Darren Wright who set the tone in this match. The visitors did manage to claw goals back for Pewter Williams, Tom Pinkerton and Craig Roberts.

Joining them  in the hat for the next round are Venture who edged out hosts Overton Rec 3-1. On target were Neil Evans, Darren Jones and Kevin Roberts with Jason Edwards notching a lone consolation goal.

Flint Town United Thirds romped to a crushing 6-1 victory over Flint Mountain in the most local of local derbies in the Halkyn Cup.

Adam Lee, Tom Heppleston, Tom Jones, John Wyatt, Danny Griffiths and Ian Rothwell all netted for United, who clinched progression with five second half goals after Stuart Buxton had pulled Mountain level prior to the interval.

Matthew Williams was Sychdyn's sole hitman in their 5-1 Barritt Cup loss to Barmouth and Dyffryn, but in the North Wales Coast Junior Cup, Point of Ayr moved into the quarter-finals with a 4-0 win over Pwllheli Reserves.

There was a third attempt to get the NEWFA Challenge Cup game between Buckley United and Bala Town on but despite it being switched to Bala, the weather took its toll once more.

LEX XI keeper Ben Jones was the star of the show as he volleyed home a last-gasp leveller in their 3-3 draw at home to Bethesda in the CYMRU ALLIANCE.

Jones scored in the ninth minute of stoppage time in one of only three games to beat the weather.

Lex were first to show  and Kevin Roberts netted after eight minutes. They held their lead until the hour mark when Gareth Owen levelled with a powerful header.

Keiran Duckett restored the LEX lead with ten minutes remaining but in an action packed ending Bethesda hit back to take a 3-2 lead with a double strike from Gareth Davies. LEX were not be denied and Jones joined in a late sortie and grabbed a last gasp leveller.

Ruthin Town were scalped 2-1 at home by Berriew who opened their account in the 22nd minute.

 Will Thomas delivered an inch perfect cross and Shane Davies scored from close range. Tryffan Prosser quickly equalised though for Ruthin but late in the game a defensive lapse enabled Ian Probert to grab an 88th minute winning goal for Berriew with a shot from distance.

Denbigh Town slumped to a 2-1 reversal against Penrhyncoch who bagged a goal in each half through Richard Evans and on each occasion, Jamie Morris was the provider. In a late rally Jamie Duffy did manage to secure an 85th minute consolation goal.

ALL the WELSH NATIONAL LEAGUE Premier Division games were washed out and only one Division One league cup tie got the green light and Holt Nomads booked a passage into the next round after edging out Acrefair Youth 4-3.

In the league, Penyffordd  walloped Glynceiriog 5-1 after Carwyn Jones had given the hosts with the lead.

In the Reserves Division, Gresford Athletic came with a late surge to defeat Hawarden Rangers 3-2.

It was a match full of drama with Rangers having their keeper dismissed for a late challenge on Robbie Jones, then had their sub keeper injured and carried off with a facial injury.

For the record book then Jordon Hayes and Mike Pugh with a second half double salvo turned this game on its head.

Llay Welfare shared four goals and the points with Rhos Aelwyd who hit back through Dale Hill and Darren Greenway.

In Reserves and Colts Division, it was league cup time and Johnstown Youth were caned 6-2 by Brymbo, Aaron Edwards converted a hat-trick and completing their tally were Dave Anderson, Gareth Roberts and Kenny Davies.   Replying for the losers was Bev Owens with both goals.

Corwen put up a spirited display at Ruthin Town who got a last minute winner through Will Jones which was his second of the match after Elgan Hughes had opened their account. Responding for Corwen were Iwan Jones and Sion James.

Acrefair Youth were sunk 9-1 by arch rivals FC Cefn. Their marksmen were Tom Evans, Ryan Anderson and Huw Parry with two goals apiece, Nick Jones, Ian Oliver Davies and Matt Thompson.  Hitting back was Matt Bride.

In the league, Borras Park Albion defeated Glynceiriog 3-0 with strikes from Adam McGhee, Alistair McKay and Andy Hughes.

Brickfield Rangers beat Overton 2-1 courtesy of strikes from Gareth Hoosan and sub Luke Bryan who notched an 85th minute winner.

In the CLWYD LEAGUE Premier Division, Aston Park Rangers went down 3-2 at home to Rhuddlan Town, despite goals from Anthony Weaver and Shaun Connor putting them 2-1 up in the second half.

Brynford United crashed to a disappointing 3-0 defeat at Llansannan.

In Division One, Caerwys won a 4-3 thriller at Mostyn Dragons where all the goals came in the second half.Gareth Henley (2), Steve Hughes and John Davies clinched it for the visitors, Danny Newman, Geraint Rowlands and Graeme Williams having given the Dragons a 3-2 lead.

Goals from Mike Pruett and Robbie Ashbrooke failed to save Wepre Rangers from a 5-2 defeat at title chasers Meliden.

FC Nomads maintained their 100 per cent  record in Division Two by thrashing Llanrwst Reserves 6-0, Ian Swindell, Jamie McConnell, Lee Williams (2), Gary Jones and a Iwan Charlton own goal making up the half-dozen.

Jake Wynne nabbed a hat-trick in Connah's Quay Tigers 5-3 success over Aston Park Rangers Reserves. Wayne Parsonage and Nicholas Nicholidas were also on the mark for Tigers, Paul Scynar, Nick Thomas and Matthew Jordan for Rangers.

Holywell Reserves were hammered 5-0 at leaders Rhuddlan Reserves.

In the Reserve Premier League, Halkyn United suffered a 7-1 home thrashing at the hands of Denbigh Town, Chris Jones firing a consolation goal.
