TNS boosted their Welsh Premier title credentials by humbling Llanelli at Stebonheath Park on Sunday.
The border side dominated proceedings from the first whistle and earned the praise of assistant manager Mike Davies, who oversaw arguably the best Saints display so far this season.
“I am thoroughly delighted with the three points, the performance was great, I’m made up for the lads, I think we deserved it,” said Davies.
TNS adapted to the sodden conditions far better than Llanelli and it was only a matter of time before the deadlock was broken.
On 15 minutes former Llanelli favourite Craig Williams swung a cross over from the left for Craig Jones to lash home, after Matthew Berkeley had failed to connect with an attempted overhead kick.
It was no more than Jones deserved having terrorised the home defence, with fellow wing wizard Williams also enjoying his return to Stebonheath.
TNS should have increased their lead before half-time, with the in-form Aeron Edwards heading against the bar, after brilliant work by Scott Ruscoe to pull a cross back from the byline.
Steve Evans was also denied by the woodwork in the first-half, while Williams spurned a great opening to wrap up victory before half-time, after being threaded through by the busy Edwards.
Edwards was joined by veteran Ruscoe and the tireless Barry Hogan in nullifying Reds playmaker Antonio Corbisiero, with the twin threat of Rhys Griffiths and Craig Moses all but starved.
When Llanelli did threaten Corbisiero was heavily involved, but Paul Harrison stood firm with a fine first-half save.
When Harrison was beaten by Corbisiero, the former Liverpool apprentice was saved by a desperate goalmouth clearance from Chris Marriott.
Lone striker Berkeley was rewarded for his enterprise on the hour when his inch perfect throughball for Ruscoe ended with the ex-Chester City ace drilling through the legs of a despairing Ashley Morris.
