THOUSANDS have joined an online campaign to save a outdoor education centre in Llangollen.
Bryntysilio Hall is owned by Walsall Holiday Camp Trust and is leased by Walsall Council.
At the moment just under 1,600 Walsall children visit Bryntysilio each year with their schools.
The centre costs council taxpayers in the Midlands £500,000 a year to operate.
But now the lease has come to an end and the council are looking into options for the future which include closing the centre and using an alternative venue.
The group ‘Save Bryntysilio!’ has about 4,800 members on the social networking site Facebook.
Adele Perry-Teasdale wrote: “It is a disgrace that Walsall Council should even consider shutting this iconic property.
“Every child deserves the opportunity to experience the fantastic outdoors.”
The council's working group is set to present its final report and recommendations on November 26.
Members of the panel will decide which option to recommend to cabinet who will be responsible for making the final decision about the future of the centre.
