A LONG-AWAITED Marks and Spencer development at Cheshire Oaks has been given the green light.
The development will bring a huge boost to the local economy and it is expected to create about 350 jobs.
The 195,000 sq ft store off Longlooms Road, next to the David Lloyd Centre, will include 950 car park spaces in landscaped gardens.
It will sell clothing, home furnishings, technology products and feature an M&S cafe, restaurant and deli.
The new store will be M&S’ largest development in the UK outside London.
M&S will also fund large-scale improvements to the local road system.
Andrew Miller, MP for Ellesmere Port and Neston, made the announcement following the completion of a public inquiry.
He said: “This was the first major planning application I can recall that resulted in so many letters of support.
“Not only am I pleased we will see another major construction site employing 200 predominantly local people, but the store will work with our local college furthering the good work done under the banner of the Cheshire Oaks Retail Academy.
