Flintshire town fighting driving test centre closure

A TOWN council is appealing against a decision to close Flintshire’s only driving test centre.

Mold town councillors said they were shocked to hear the centre in St David’s Lane was to close, prompting them to write to the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) to ask them to reconsider.

Cllr Stephanie Hulley said: “No-one ever asks us about things like this. All of a sudden it’s gone and that’s what I can’t understand.

“I feel that the closure of the agency will have an adverse effect on businesses.

"I think it’s a facility that is good for the town and its closure will affect the whole of Flintshire, not just Mold.

“I think that we should approach them and ask them to reverse their decision.”

The centre, which opened in the 1960s, will close when a new facility opens in Wrexham, meaning learner drivers living in Flintshire will have to travel to Wrexham, Chester or Rhyl to take their tests.

Where do you stand on the issue?

Are you a Flintshire resident angry over the move?

Are you a Wrexham learner driver glad another centre is opening near you?
