TWO Kurdish men have spoken out after been viciously attacked in Wrexham by a gang of baseball bat-wielding thugs.

Motasam Rahim and Rebaz Said were walking to the Co-op store in Hightown, Wrexham, when they were set upon by a group of seven men.

“We were at our friend’s house that evening and on the way home we called at the Co-op store to buy a bottle of water and as we came out they attacked us,” Rebaz said.

Both men were taken to hospital after suffering horrific injuries and Motasam has been told there is a possibility that he may lose his eyesight.

“I never wanted my children to see me in this condition especially on the first day of Eid, (a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan),” said Motasam.

The Leader reported details of the terrifying gang attack on Monday after police launched an appeal for witnesses in a bid to bring the violent gang to justice.

Officers are now investigating the attack, which took place between 9.40pm and 9.50pm on Salisbury Road on Saturday between the Green Dragon pub and the Co-op store.

A spokeswoman said: “North Wales Police received a report from a man at 9.58pm stating that he and another man had been attacked by a group of approximately six or seven men in this area.

“Police are keen to find out the identity of three other men who came to the assistance of the two men under attack, who both live locally.

“It is understood that the drivers of several vehicles sounded their horns as they drove by this incident.”

Pathetic, cowardly attack. They must be local and someone must know something.

We have learned from the recent history that Fascism and Nazism have caused us two world wars and millions of death and yet there are still many racist people in the UK whom are not aware of their own history while their fathers and grandfathers were fighting Nazis, they are now active members of British National Party (BNP).

Harem, 1.wake up and 2. learn some history. The BNP are actually proud of Britain's history and are trying to protect the values our grandfathers' fought for. 2. World war 1 had nothing to do with nazis, who weren't even around then.

Boycs, i think you are the 1 who needs to wake up and learn your own history, I'm not even British i have a PHD in British history. While we all know that if none white people were ordered out of Britain then the NHS would collapse overnight. 16% of nurses are from minority ethnic communities, as are 40% of new dentists and 58% of new doctors.

Why do you bring race into it? If it was the other way round I'm sure I would be called a nazi racist? If non-whites are so much better than us, why are the most succesfull countries in terms of gdp, standard of living etc all white chrsitian countries?

Nice discussion, children. No relevance to the story whatsoever and embarrassing on both your parts. Bottom line - the people who carried this out deserve retribution in kind, irrespective of the nationalities or ethnicity of any of the parties involved.

Racism.... does not exist in Wrexham.... Source... Ian Lucas MP..... after the riot in Caia Park......supported the then Leader of the Labour led WCBC and Police Service

Cahill, how is it a clear example of racism? Due to these lads being kurds, therefore they are 100% perfect and anyone who attacks them will only do so due to the colour of their skin? You should be in charge of the pc brigade.

Oh dear, why do we have to put up with this type of behaviour ? The perpetrators of this need feching to justice, and tittle tattle amongst ourselves is not helping. The actions of three people who do not represent the community as a whole prove nothing other than there own ignorance in how to behave.

Harem: please get some of your facts right dear fellow. World war 1 had nothing to do with Nazism as it had not been invented at that time, and to say that while our grandparents fought in that war we have become members of a Facist organisation is not only wrong but unjust. May your own God go with you.

A disgraceful attack with weapons. Let's hope those responsible are swiftly caught.

What circumstances bring them here? They can't be migrant workers because people from Kurdish areas are not subject to the EU. If they are asylum seekers I take a leaf out of Home Secretary Alan Johnson's book (when referring to the camp at Calais) and question why they haven't sought 'protection' in the first EU country they reach? Instead, they have travelled through many many countries with one sole aim. To enjoy the benefits and lifestyle the UK has to offer....
