WREXHAM has been hit with a new jobs blow with the announcement of administrators being brought in to a specialist steel fabricator company, and 14 redundancies being made.

The business advisory firm Deloitte has been appointed administrators to LM Engineering Services Ltd and its holding company VMS Management Services Ltd.

LM Engineering is a specialist steel fabricator dealing with customers in the construction, retail and petrochemical sectors.

Based in Wrexham, the group operates from an 18,000 sq ft freehold site, together with leasehold premises, and employs 38 members of staff.

Bill Dawson and Dan Butters, of Deloitte, were appointed joint administrators of LM Engineering and VMS Management Services yesterday (August 17).

Mr Dawson said: “Unfortunately, the group has suffered as a result of the recession, and has recently been further impacted by the closure of a customer.

“We will continue to trade the business as a going concern while actively looking for a purchaser. It is with regret that we have had to make 14 employees redundant.”

This is obviously not one of the Companies taking part in the ProAct scheme that Lesley Griffiths was on about... just like JCB, Air Product and the many other Companies that have let workers go Profits mean more than staff to these companies who took the profits in the good time yet sack workers who kept going
