An investigation has been launched after a number of trees were felled in Wrexham.

Concerns were raised by a group called Wrexham Litter Pickers, who shared photos of the site on Twitter earlier this week - and reported the matter to Wrexham Council.

A spokesman for the group posted: "Looks like some illegal tree felling has taken place along the River Gwenfro.

"Up to ten mature trunks felled for no apparent reason.

"[The] housing estate behind the felled area is Goodwick Drive.

"Reported to council who are land owners for investigation."

Cllr Hugh Jones, lead member for Planning and Public Protection, said, “Our officers are aware of the tree felling and are investigating the matter.”
