A HIGH School in Flintshire is celebrating being crowned the secondary school of the year the Leader Education Awards.

Argoed High School were announced as the winners of the prize at the awards night at the Village Hotel, St David’s on March 14.

It was awarded to the secondary school who in the opinion of the judges, have had an outstanding academic year.

The work that Argoed High School does “empowers students to fulfil their potential and thrive academically”.

The school is “dedicated to investing in the development of ambitious, independent, and capable learners”.

Through innovative teaching methods and a commitment to fostering critical thinking skills, the school ensures that each student is equipped with the tools needed for success in an ever-evolving world.

Argoed High School ensures that learners are not only academically prepared but also equipped with the skills and values needed to navigate the complexities of life with responsibility and respect for others.

After receiving the award, Headteacher Paul Smith and Chair of Governors Nikki Pearce told the Leader: “We’re made up to be here really.

“It’s an honour to win this award and it’s a reflection of the hard work everyone at the school puts in.

“Everyone is valued at the school and we pride ourselves on working as a team as it’s a team effort, it really is.

“It’s all about the pupils at the end of the day and we really care about them.

“There is such a good feel around the school and it is such a nice place to go to work at the minute.”

The other schools up for Secondary School of the Year Award were Darland High School in Rossett and Helsby High School.
