A WREXHAM couple have married in a Flintstones-themed wedding.

When Gillian Kaye and John Cummins, both 58, from Hullah Lane, Caia Park tied the knot on Saturday morning they did so as characters Fred and Wilma from fictional downtown Bedrock.

The couple married at Wrexham’s Guildhall registry office witnessed by their close friends, including Tracey Spencer and Dean ‘Dino’ Wrigley who were also dressed in character as dinosaurs.

Bride Gillian said she and John had set their hearts on doing something a bit different to the usual traditions, and they gave their nuptials a wacky twist, inspired by Fred Flintstone’s well-known catchphrase from the popular cartoon which is set in the Stone Age.

Gillian said: “We’ve both been married before so I didn’t want to do the whole princess thing.

“We thought, let’s pick something we want to do instead.

“So we just picked to do this as a laugh.

“We even changed the vows so that when John said “I do”, he said “I yabba-dabba doo”.

The happy couple, originally from Huddersfield and Lincolnshire, have been together for three years.

Gillian added: “Four of us dressed up, including a mate from Lincolnshire as a dinosaur.

“We didn’t want it to be a big thing so have kept it small.”

Speaking after the wedding, Gillian added: “It was absolutely brilliant, really mad, but everyone got into the spirit of it so we were really pleased.

“Everything went absolutely fine, it was a really good day and the great thing is that we did it the way we wanted to.”

The joyous couple are now set to go on honeymoon to Skegness in Lincolnshire for four days, followed by six days in Ireland.
