JON McCARTHY will look to add one more striker to his ranks over the coming weeks to complete Chester’s forward line.

Having already snapped up Harry White from Solihull, brought in Nyal Bell on a six-month loan from Gateshead, and secured James Akintunde’s signature for another campaign, McCarthy wants a fourth striker as he looks to build a stronger squad for the Blues ahead of the 2017/18 season.

The Blues boss is bidding to fill to void created by the expected departure of last season’s 17-goal marksman James Alabi, who has been offered an improved deal to stay but looks likely to move on.

“I’ve always been keen on him and now with Nyal, Akintunde and White in the squad, we’ve got the makings of a young, exciting forward line,” McCarthy said. “I reckon we need one more in there, we’re working hard to bring in a striker with a bit more experience and that will help us form the basis of four good strikers for next season.”

McCarthy admitted he was ‘delighted’ to bring 20-year-old forward Bell back to the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium, after he previously joined the Blues on a one-month loan in 2016, making three appearances.

“I’m delighted to get Nyal on board, we’ve been keen to get him on board for a while now,” he added.

“He was here a while back but he has really developed as a player since, both technically and physically and I was very keen to bring him back to Chester.”
