A police officer suffered a broken elbow after the driver of a car that was stopped attempted to drive away.

Two people were arrested after the incident in Bagillt at 11.04pm on Wednesday.

A North Wales Police spokesman said: “As an officer was dealing with occupants, the vehicle drove off causing injury to the officer’s arm.

“The vehicle stopped a short distance later and a man and a woman, who failed drug swipes, were arrested for assaulting a police officer and drugs and driving offences.

“A quantity of drugs was also recovered from the vehicle.”

Chief Superintendent Sarah Hatchett said on Twitter that the officer was in “good spirits” following the incident.
